Food, glorious, food!
I had not one, or two, but three FREE meals this weekend.
On Saturday, I went over to the Drive to the surprise birthday party for my friend Eric Johnson, organized by his wife, Adria, and noshed on barbecue with some industry folks (other cast and crew from Smallville and Flash Gordon). Had to rush off before the cake and singing – Happy Birthday again, Eric! – because dinner was awaiting.
Saturday night, out to Port Moody in my new car with Dino from Super U, for dinner with Glynis Whiting, Super Channel‘s Creative Development Rep for Alberta and NWT, and her family. The kids animated their tummies, marking faces with navels for mouths, while the adults talked about the film industry (more Smallville, indie doc talk).
Sunday afternoon was White Rock for a garden party with Anastasia Fontaines and her family who are award-winning cooks.
With the memory of the delicious meals still in my head – and my tummy – I started thinking about all the great food scenes in movies: Big Night (1996), Eat Drink Man Woman (1994), Animal House (1978).
Food and family are always intertwined. Immortalize your favourite family meal, happy or no, in a movie and you could win www.superu.ca‘s “Family War & Peace” contest. Open for entries until this Thursday, August 14.
I’ll probably still be full then…
