We now interrupt our usual programming…

After a weekend filled with film (from smuggling single moms in Frozen River to burlesque dancers in Confessions of a Sorta Str8 Drag King), we now take a break from our regularly scheduled blog to bring you:

What The Heck’s Up With the Barenaked Ladies?

On July 11, 2008 in Fayette, NY, singer Steven Page was arrested on felony charges for possession of 1/3 of an ounce of cocaine. He admitted to police that he’d snorted cocaine through a rolled up Canadian bill, but has pleaded not guilty to the possession charge. Page, who calls Toronto home but was visiting his girlfriend at the time, faces up to 15 years in prison. He’s scheduled to appear in a New York court tomorrow, August 26. [Now delayed until October 14.]

This gives new meaning to the title of the BNL’s recent children’s album: Snacktime!

Yesterday, August 24, Ed Robertson, BNL frontman and star of OLN’s Ed’s Up, survived the crash of his private plane near Bancroft, Ontario. Sources say that Robertson, a licensed pilot since 2005, was flying the plane with his wife and two friends as passengers.

Of course, these two events are not related in the least. They just make this band a whole lot more interesting.
